I know what you’re thinking. If you’ve read my past blog, you probably are thinking “Man, this girl loves the old hymns” and you are right. Something about the old hymns reaches my soul. Words can be deep and rich as Proverbs 16:24 illustrates so well, “gracious words are a honeycomb , sweet to the soul..”
This is one of the songs that is my honeycomb, if that makes any sense. The reason I’m sharing this is this, we should love to tell this beautiful old story. Although the old story of our Savior is ongoing and new each day. We should tell the world of our loving Savior and his love for us. Just wanted to remind you and myself to go out there today and share this old story! If you, are reading this and don’t know Jesus, please contact me and I would love to share it with you! Meanwhile you should check out this song below if you aren’t familiar with it and if you are familiar with it, maybe sing it? It’ll do your soul some good!
“I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY” by Katherine Hankey 1866
“I love to tell the story, Of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, Because I know ’tis true;
It satisfies my longings, As nothing else can do.
I love to tell the story, ’Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story; More wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies; Of all my golden dreams,
I love to tell the story, It did so much for me;
And that is just the reason ; I tell it now to thee.
I love to tell the story; ’Tis pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it, More wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story; For some have never heard
The message of salvation, From God’s own holy Word.
I love to tell the story; For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting; To hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story, That I have loved so long.”
