Does anyone hate to pump your own gas? Lord knows I do! That’s why my car’s fuel gauge is on “E” all the time. It drives my husband crazy because every time he jumps in my car there’s barely enough gas to get to the gas station (fingers crossed). He always gives me the look and asks a one word question, “why”!!? I just smile and act innocent. I really do hate to pump gas in my car!!
I want to talk about our spiritual tank. How full is your spiritual gas tank? If you had a gauge that showed you how spiritually full your life is, what would yours read? Are you spiritually half empty or can you relate to my poor car and you’re praying you have enough from week to week to make it to the spiritual gas station (church) to get filled up. We need to keep tabs on our spiritual gauge and make sure it’s not getting close to E because God wants more for us than to be half full or barely making it in life. In Colossians, Paul points out several times of the importance of spiritual fullness, using God’s word to fill up our lives (Colossians 1:24). He pointed out in Colossians 2:6-7 that staying strong in your faith and reading God’s word will keep your heart full and thanking him daily.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7 NIV
I think we would all agree that when our spiritual heart is full, we are in a much happier place. So if you feel like you’re running empty, barely making it from one place to another, maybe it’s time to pick up the Bible and use God’s word for what it is intended for & fill up.
Praying for you today!
