As New Year is approaching, many people have a resolution for a New Year. Everyone wants a fresh start , a new beginning or maybe a new health/fitness plan. Whatever that may be, you and I should make sure God is first on that list. Here’s a verse that I think is a great New Year resolution for 2026 especially for me.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me.” Psalm51:10-11KJV
The first part of the verse “create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Maybe start with a clean heart and refresh our spirit by changing some of the things that aren’t good for us such as changing what tv shows we watch, music we listen to, our attitudes, or even change things we say such as cussing. Basically whatever causes you to sin or cause temptation, GET RID OF IT. If you keep falling in the same trap, it will cause you to astray from God. You wouldn’t feel his presence especially if you are in the deep with sin. “Cast me not away from thy presence: and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.”
The resolution to all of this is, read your bible DAILY. I’m guilty of this one. I don’t read mine everyday. So I pick up my one year bible and I’ve decided I’m going to try to read everyday. If you’re unsure where to start, as my Pastor would say, is to start in Proverbs. For example, today is the 30th, so read verse 30. Another resolution is to pray often or better yet daily. Build a relationship with God. Find that 10-15 min for him.
At last, maybe memorize this verse. “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” Psalm 51:10-11
